The Diablo Adult Soccer League’s rich history of competitive and recreational soccer saw another milestone in June, when two sets of fathers and sons played on the same team for the first time in memory. Kurt and Keith Krook, respective ages 78 and 45, and Armand and Woody Repulles, 58 and 30, are seen playing for the Clockwork Orange team in DASL’s A division.

Kurt Krook, a native of Uddevalla, Sweden, came to the U.S. in 1950 and settled in Walnut Creek in 1965. Son Keith played varsity soccer at Del Valle and Las Lomas High Schools and pursued a college career at Chico State before settling in Walnut Creek as well. Armand Repulles arrived in 1969 from his native San Sebastian, Spain, by way of a college career at Mississippi State University. He played semi-pro soccer for San Francisco’s Concordia and Sons of Italy—the latter of which won the U.S. Open Cup in 1976—and went on to join DASL in 1985. He recently moved to Montclair after long residence in Moraga, where son Woody played varsity soccer at and graduated from Campolindo High School. Woody then also attended Chico State and the University of San Sebastian, where he played intramural soccer.

Though the two sets of fathers and sons are unprecedented in the over-30 co-ed league, this kind of family activity is typical of DASL competition.  To see a picture of the group click here.
