Heavy Traffic
protest of game with Clockwork Orange.
This game was played with just one referee. Heavy Traffic’s protest was based on the fact
that the league Constitution provides that both teams must agree to play when
only one referee is available. Heavy
Traffic claimed that they were never given the opportunity to discuss whether
or not to play and that they were compelled to play with just one referee. After discussion regarding the circumstances
of the game and the fact that Heavy Traffic could have taken the initiative to
discuss whether or not to play, the board rejected the protest. The vote was 1 to accept the protest, 6 to
reject the protest, and 2 abstain.
Allegro player’s behavior at a game against
Tyros. An Allegro player was alleged to
have threatened a Tyro’s player after the game.
The background was presented by the Disciplinary Chairman. While there were some words exchanged during
the game, no cards were issued by the referees.
Accounts of actions following the game were considered. Consideration was also given to the player’s
past history of discipline – no previous cards.
The board discussed steps that should have been taken by both teams in
order to mitigate the escalation of hostile actions. A motion was made that the player should be
suspended for 3 games. In addition, they
would carry 8 points on their record. In
addition, the accused player is to write a letter of apology to the offended
player and to the league. The motion
passed with two abstentions.
In addition the above disciplinary action,
the board proposed that the following actions be taken:
-
the accused player is to be counseled by their team about
appropriate behavior,
-
the offended player is to be counseled about giving upset
players some space, and
-
team representatives are to be told to remove players from
the game should they show signs of becoming out of control.
