Attendees:                   Wes Motschmann, Linda Zoccoli, Stuart McAllister, Pam Blessington, Gene Stoegbauer, Doug Vezina, Karl Thomas, Sue Heng, Hans Rothkehl

7:40 PM                       Call to Order; Wes Motschmann

There were no minutes read for the meeting of October 9, 2002. The plan is to have them read and approved at the meeting in January.

7:43 PM                       League Reports

Disciplinary Chairmen’s Report; Hans Rothkehl

Hans reported there have been 37 cards issued so far this season. Most have been issued for dissent or dangerous play. There are repeat offenders across the league. Also, game cards are still not being filled out properly.

Operations Report; Wes Motschmann

Wes stated there was nothing to report outside of the fact that the website has been updated and the standings page has been improved. Sue would like to see the minutes published on the site again.

Registrar/Treasurer Reports; Pam Blessington

Pam reported that Insurance options are still being researched for next year.

7:50 PM                       City Rep Reports

Danville, Karl Thomas

Karl reported that Danville has been successful at getting their play cards submitted in a more timely fashion.

Karl also brought up the subject of the spring schedule. Wes indicated once again that he would like to have availability of the fields passed to him early so that he can create play schedules in a more reasonable time. Discussions continued around timing and the best way to provide field information considering the difficulty of cities scheduling around youth sporting events.

The subject of random assignments of team schedules was also brought up. There was some indication that the current method may not be completely random. Eight teams in a division allows for 7 opponents to divide among 12 games. Therefore, 5 teams will be played twice and 2 teams played against once. The question of which teams are played twice vs. once is the issue.

Karl then noted that Danville would be able to provide between 5 and 7 fields for the spring season. Hans voiced that San Ramon would have 2 fields and Linda stated that Walnut Creek should have 1 or 2 fields with the exception of April.

San Ramon, No Representative

Walnut Creek, Linda Zoccoli

Linda reiterated that as of right now, Walnut Creek will be unable to provide fields in April. There will be one field in March. Linda noted that she is continually looking for fields that can be used for adult sports. She has considered approaching private schools for permission to play on their fields providing an opportunity to play without city interference. Arbolado is closed for annual maintenance during the months of March and April, but will be available for DASL exclusively during May and June. Tice Valley is also closed but only for one month, March.

Wes indicated that when assigning fields for schedules he makes a point to assign half away and half home to avoid field exhaustion.

Linda mentioned that she was approached by a Concord team that is interested in joining Walnut Creek and becoming a part of DASL. This may open the door to some fields availability for Walnut Creek.

Orinda, Stuart McAllister

Stuart stated that due to Orinda having 1 team in 1 city there was quite a bit of field flexibility. Other than that there was nothing else to report.

8:23 PM                       Old/Unfinished Business

The question was raised about Danville’s plans on leaving or staying with DASL. Karl reported Danville will continue on with DASL.

8:25 PM                       New Business

Disciplinary rule changes; this topic was placed on the agenda due to an incident of a player not getting his player pass turned over to Hans in a timely fashion. It was proposed that a time limit (8 days) be placed on the delivery of such a pass. As it turned out this player was unable to deliver his pass to Hans due to the fact that he had been called to military leave. The matter was discussed with no final solution.

8:35 PM                       Members Concerns

It was brought up that the web site should contain e-mail addresses for the team reps.
